Society does not encourage the display of anger because it has no clue how to tackle and handle a volcanic explosion of emotion.
Nobody is given the proper tools to handle an emotion as arduous as anger. Not the parents, not the teachers, much less the child.
So your capacity to understand anger has been shaped by the degree of tolerance you've been shown when you were angry as a kid - which is probably close to none. You've been dismissed and rebuked. So as an adult, you lost touch with that part in you that just wanted to get steam off and you don't know anything about your angered side. Let me tell you a couple of things about it.
You are angry not because you lost control over your life, but because you're finally claiming it as your angry self.
You are angry not because you seek vengeance and want to prove something, but because there is a part in you who won't take not being seen and heard anymore.
Your anger doesn't want you to be a spectator of your life anymore.
Your anger knows you're not in the place you want to be.
Your anger knows the bad things that happened to you and cannot be muted about it anymore.
Your anger needs the entirety of you to stand for that which you are worthy of.
Your anger deserves your focus. Your anger deserves you because it loves you. Be with it.
