Finding Your True Self Is Counterintuitive to What You May Think

QUESTION: How do I find my true self?

Many people have a complicated idea of what the true/authentic self or the best self is. And even though it is true that understanding the path back to your authenticity is heavily constricted by societal programming, self limiting beliefs, traumas etc., once we get a grasp of how to do it, it's going to get easier.

So how do you find your true self?

It's counterintuitive from what you're probably thinking.

Here's my 2 step process for finding and embodying your true self:

1️⃣ QUESTION & EXAMINE the Things You Think You Know About Yourself (and are dead sure are true about you)

As children we take on the likes, dislikes, beliefs and behaviors of the dominant caregivers in our life. And we take them on without questioning in order to guarantee safety & belonging. So you need to examine the things about you that seem obviously true. Even your favorite color 🙂

2️⃣ Find Ways To APPROVE Of The PARTS Within You That YOU HATE/DISLIKE/WANT TO HIDE FROM OTHERS.

Usually, this is actually the hardest and longest part of the process of reclaiming your true self.

As children we disowned traits that were dismissed and disapproved of by our parents. These parts of our consciousness became our shadows and went into the unconscious.

These rejected aspects are part of our true self, of our consciousness. They will never go away. So the only way to reverse this process and fully start embodying your true self, you need to find ways to approve of what you hate about yourself. Tough job, huh?

Not if you understand why you split your consciousness in the first place and what the positive intention behind these disowned traits is!
