Discovering our true selves can be a challenging journey fraught with many misconceptions and falsehoods that can cause confusion and frustration along the way.


The true self is always positive: One of the most damaging myths is the belief that our true selves should only be positive, and that negative thoughts and emotions have no place in it. This misconception can leave us feeling inadequate and ashamed, as if we are not good enough when we experience negativity. However, in reality, our true selves encompass all aspects of who we are, including our flaws, weaknesses, and negative emotions. Suppressing any part of ourselves only leads to further disconnection and pain, hindering our ability to live a fulfilled life.


The true self is fixed: Another misconception that can prevent us from discovering our true selves is the belief that our identities are fixed and unchanging. This idea can make us feel stuck and powerless, limiting our potential for growth and transformation.
